BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the value of goods and services produced in a country. Since 1991, GDP has been used as the primary measure of production in the United States.
In 2019, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) prepared and released official GDP statistics for each county in the United States for the years from 2001-2018.
In addition to GDP totals for each county, the county-level GDP estimates prepared by BEA provide a breakdown of county-level economic activity by industry.
